Indonesia's Corruption Remains Rampant, CPI Report Reveals

Corruption Index Shows Persistent Problem in Indonesia

Indonesia's Corruption Perceptions Index (CPI) score remains low, indicating that corruption continues to be a significant problem in the country.

According to the 2023 CPI report released by Transparency International, Indonesia scored 34 out of 100, ranking 110th out of 180 countries. This score is unchanged from the previous year, showing that the country has made little progress in combating corruption.

The CPI measures the perceived level of public sector corruption in countries around the world. A higher score indicates a lower level of corruption. Indonesia's score of 34 falls well below the global average of 43 and is even lower than the average score for the Asia-Pacific region, which is 45.

The report highlights several areas where Indonesia needs to improve its anti-corruption efforts. These include strengthening the independence of anti-corruption institutions, increasing transparency and accountability in public procurement, and reducing the influence of money in politics.

The Indonesian government has acknowledged the problem of corruption and has taken some steps to address it. However, more needs to be done to effectively combat this issue and improve the country's CPI score.
